Ever feel like you are in a rut? Time is going slow and yet all too fast. You find yourself coasting or in a period of waiting. Somehow the things that you enjoyed and had a passion for are becoming bleak. It isn’t easy living in the waiting room. Complacency causes lack of attention to what is important. Becoming bitter of what we have causes us to take things for granted when just years ago we may have wished for things that we have now.
It is easy to forget about the good things in life, to take it for granted. Time causes a lack of judgement because feelings fade when we don’t recall them as often. We become tired of our view; restless with our recurring thoughts. Something else we seek to make tomorrow worthwhile. No one can ever really be happy when they get what they want, for something else always comes to mind.
We all have a negative thought at times. That doesn’t mean we need to bask in it day in and out. The problem with our thoughts is that we let them control us. We allow ourselves to wallow within our insecurities. It is easy to give into our petty thoughts that cause us to stall. It takes slightly more energy to recall what is worth the wait, the time. It is our decision to find the good things in what we have to do. There is always some bright side. If you don’t like your job ask yourself why you are still with it, but more importantly, why did you choose it in the first place? Sometimes we forget the basics of why, and when we find it we can have a good day again knowing there is a reason for the way of our life and why it is worth it.
We have to remember that if we don’t like what we are doing now we have to learn to change it for the future. That may mean spending extra time focusing on what we want and need. It is worth it to look into yourself once in a while and ask yourself a few questions. Who am I? What do I stand for? If I were to die tomorrow, what would I want people to remember me as? Those questions can be a life changer if you come to the realization that you are not living up to the answers you give. If you have no answers for one of those questions then maybe its time to start asking.
Life is said to be short. I think it is because most allow themselves to live in regret because they don’t take advantage of the time they have with the knowledge of what they really wanted. It is easy, and fun at times, to coast in life but that doesn’t mean you are living. Take a moment and figure out not what you want to be but who you want to be. Then figure out what you need to do to get there. Only one person can make an impacting, life changing, effect on you and that is yourself. No matter who your influences are you are the reason why you change to be the person you want to be or don’t want to be. You are the one who makes the choice of who you want to be and who you really are.
Imagine a life unlike today. perhaps far from yesterday. Imagine a life tomorrow that can be everything you want if you just understand how you need to get there.
